Promoting Tourism
Promoting tourism is a powerful economic development tool that increases demand and brand value across all sectors of the economy.
It improves business and residential attraction; It helps retain the workforce; It builds more diverse community skills and expertise; And it fosters small business growth. It also helps with cross cultural connections and cultural development.
To grow tourism and small business wealth WEGA has established three future initiatives: A tourism trade association, WEGA Tourism; A tourist guide and phone app, Wabash Leisure Guide; And an online lifestyle magazine, Land + Sky. These initiatives provide practical tools for advancing the region’s tourism industry.
The region has a long history of successful tourism starting with the first trading post on the Wabash in 1802 in Warren County and then Hotel Mudlavia in 1890 and the resulting wellness trade. Today the region boasts a top ten golf course, a 1000 acre off-road park, rich architectural history, natural wonders and countless outdoor recreation activities.
